Hi, I’m Josh. I make films.

I’ve been obsessed with figuring out how things work for as long as I can remember. As a kid, it was magic tricks, drawing, music, and taking things apart just to see if I could put them back together. Eventually it became movies.

Film still feels a little like magic to me. You can take a camera, some glass, light, sound, a room full of people, and a story that exists only in your head—and make an audience believe it, even when they know it isn’t real.

I love every part of that process. I love watching actors discover their characters. I love seeing a cinematographer find a frame I never would have imagined, or a production designer turn an empty room into a world. And I love hearing what a composer hears in a story.

And I love the moment when everyone starts bringing their own ideas and it becomes bigger than anything I could have made by myself.

Maybe that’s why I’ve never been interested in staying in one lane. I direct, edit, color and compose. I’ve made music, done theatre, and followed whatever rabbit hole might teach me something. Not because I need to do everything myself. Quite the opposite. The more I learn, the more I appreciate what extraordinary people can do together.

I want to make movies that are fun but leave you wondering. Mystery. Humor. Big images and quiet human moments. The kind that make you forget the trick for a little while, feel something real, and maybe see yourself—or someone else—a little differently when the lights come back.

Mostly, I’m still that kid trying to figure out how the magic trick works.

Only now I get to make one.
